Candy Romania, Master Instructor, 9th Degree Black Belt

Receiving worldwide recognition in INSIDE KARATE, MARTIAL ARTS MASTERS and INSIDE MARTIAL ARTS magazines, Master Candy Romania holds one of the highest Karate ranks of any female certified by an authentic Okinawan organization. Ms. Romania was the Owner and Chief Instructor of Iron & Silk INC., Traditional Karate and Family Fitness Center, located in Pequannock, NJ, for 17 years. She was awarded a 9th degree Black Belt in Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do as certified by the Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do GoshinKai. She is also certified as an Instructor in Tai Chi Chuan and holds a 7th degree Black Belt in Kobudo (weapons) as certified by the Ryukyuan Kobudo International.

She has published a number of articles on the martial arts and in 1984, while training with Master Masanobu Shinjo on Okinawa, appeared on national television. In 1984, she was also a guest of the Governor of Okinawa. In 1995, she was inducted into the Martial Arts Gallery of Fame.

Ms. Romania has over 35 years of intensive training in martial arts under the tutelage of world renowned Karate masters. She is experienced in sport competition, and served as a Certified Referee and the Chairperson of the New Jersey Association of the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States. She is certified as a Personal Trainer/ Fitness Counselor with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. Ms. Romania is a certified Master Aerobic and Fitness Instructor by the American Council on Exercise since 1989, and a member of the International Dance Education Association. CPR certification is held by the American Heart Association.

Ms. Romania is a graduate of Alfred University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice with duel minors in Psychology and Spanish. She graduated from William Paterson College of NJ with a Master of Arts degree in Public Administration.
